Mr. Janos T. Patko, am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a particular interest in Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Revision Surgery, have been a Consultant in Orthopaedics and Trauma since January 2005. From 1st April 2010 I have been appointed as a Substantive Consultant at Barnsley General Hospital, NHS Foundation Trust. I have qualified from Medical University in 1991, and entered straight into Orthopaedics and Trauma field. I have, therefore 19 years of training and experience in the Orthopaedic speciality. Mr. Janos T. Patko completed his medical training in 1991 and finished his postgraduate training in orthopaedics in 1998 from Hungary. He did his basic surgical training in Hull/East Riding He then did Fellowship training in Lower Limb Arthroplasty in Bradford, and did fellowship in Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Hospital in Oswestry, Queen Medical Centre Nottingham, Karlsbad Langensteinbach Germany and Spinal Foundation in Rochdale. Mr. Janos T. Patko is based on the NHS at Barnsley General Hospital, NHS Foundation Trust where he was appointed in April 2010 as a Specialist Hip and Knee Arthroplasty surgeon with an interest in complex revision. He performs all aspects of hip Arthroplasty including the use of ceramic bearings in the young patient group. In revision hip surgery he utilizes a variety of surgical techniques such as extended trochanteric osteotomies and trochanteric slides for exposure. He is competent at pelvic revision techniques such as using mesh and reinforcement rings along with impaction bone grafting for cemented sockets. He also uses uncemented sockets and bulk allograft when appropriate. He uses a variety of cemented and uncemented implants to deal with the different aspects of femoral bone loss. He also performs total hip replacement for fracture neck of femur patients in the appropriate physiological groups. He performs both condylar and unicondylar primary knee Arthroplasty and utilise condylar and hinged knee replacements in revision surgery along with hinged knees for complex and fixed deformity knee arthritis. He performs all routine arthroscopic procedures of the knee such as menisectomy. He has several peer review publications and has delivered presentations both nationally and internationally on different aspects of orthopaedics.
