Mr James R. H. Scurr

I am a consultant surgeon in vascular and endovascular surgery with a specific interest in venous disorders, including deep vein thrombosis and varicose veins. I sit on the Council of the Venous Forum of the Royal Society of Medicine. My training was undertaken at University College London and the Middlesex Hospitals' School of Medicine, qualifying in 2000. In 2004, I moved to the North West to continue my higher surgical training at the Mersey School of Surgery. From 2005 to 2007 I was the Endovascular Research Fellow at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and was awarded a doctorate of medicine (MD) by the University of Liverpool for my research into fenestrated endovascular aneurysm repair. In 2010, I was the Liverpool and North West Society of Surgeons' travelling Fellow to the Gonda Vascular Centre at the Mayo Clinic (Minnesota, USA) at the invitation of Professor P. Gloviczki. In 2012, I was awarded the The American Vein & Lymphatic Society's (formerly the American College of Phlebology) International Scholarship. My current NHS posts are: A full time Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon to the Liverpool Vascular and Endovascular Service (LiVES) at University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHLG). Honorary Consultant Surgeon to Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
