Mr. James Gill is a dedicated Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in knee problems. In addition to his role at St. Edmunds Hospital, he serves as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, located in Bury St. Edmunds. His passion lies in enhancing function and relieving pain for patients of all ages suffering with knee issues. He achieves this by conducting meticulous assessments and crafting customized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs. James Gill's journey in the field of medicine started with his medical studies at the University of Cambridge, Hughes Hall, from 2005 to 2009. He completed his foundation training between 2009 and 2011 at the West Suffolk and Cambridge University Hospitals. He worked as a junior doctor at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, Australia in 2011 before commencing Core Surgical training in the East of England. He undertook his Orthopaedic Speciality training rotating around hospitals in the East of England from 2015 to 2021. During his Registrar training he completed a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine at the University of Bath. His training culminated with a prestigious fellowship at the Brisbane Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre in 2022 supervised by Dr Peter Myers, Dr Tim McMeniman and Dr Tony O’Neill. This fellowship is renowned worldwide for its comprehensive exposure to all forms of knee surgery and experience in managing knee injuries in elite athletes. James Gill is passionate about advancing orthopaedic knowledge through his research endeavours. He has published over 20 peer-reviewed scientific publications. Outside of his professional endeavours, Mr. Gill finds joy in spending quality time with friends and family. Alongside his wife, he shares a passion for swimming, cycling, and running. He has completed eight 'Iron' distance triathlons, including the Ironman World Age Group Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
