Mr Jai Shankar

Mr. Jai Shankar is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, UK and leads the retinal service. A graduate of Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, he did post-graduation at JIPMER, Pondicherry and J N Medical College, Belgaum, followed by a Vitreo-retinal Fellowship at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. In the UK, he has obtained higher surgical training at the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology in Glasgow, Cardiff Eye Unit, St. Paul’s Eye Unit in Liverpool and at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He is an examiner for The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, European Board of Ophthalmology and The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Dr. Jai Shankar has been a member of the Education & Training committee of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists and is the ex-Chair of the International Medical Graduates Sub-committee. He is an Honorary Faculty member at Cardiff University Medical School, Swansea University Medical School and the Biomedical Sciences unit of Bangor University.
