In the UK, he has obtained higher surgical training at the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology in Glasgow, Cardiff Eye Unit, St. Paul’s Eye Unit in Liverpool and at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He is an examiner for The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, European Board of Ophthalmology and The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Dr. Jai Shankar has been a member of the Education & Training committee of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists and is the ex-Chair of the International Medical Graduates Sub-committee. He is an Honorary Faculty member at Cardiff University Medical School, Swansea University Medical School and the Biomedical Sciences unit of Bangor University.
