Mr Jacob Der Tavitian

I was born in 1963 in Baghdad, Iraq to an Armenian family. I completed my medical training at Baghdad medical school. I was an trainee on the South Trent training programme for six years and obtained the CCST in May 2005. I have undertaken shoulder and upper limb fellowships both in Perth, Western Australia and Wrightington, UK. I was appointed consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Hull & East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust in December 2005.

I am an orthopaedic surgeon who is subspecialized in upper limb surgery. I have gained wide experience working upper limb surgeons in the South Trent region (EM Morris, JJ Dias, AA Armstrong, R Pandey), during my upper limb fellowships, in Perth/ Western Australia (Dr Peter Hales) and the internationally renowned upper limb centre in Wrightington/UK (Mike Hayton, Ian Trail). Working in these centers has given me the confidence in performing most procedures involving the elbow and shoulder. This includes arthroscopic/open procedure arthroplasty. Hull and East Riding NHS trust is a busy teaching hospitals with a catchment area of 650,000. The department consist of 25 consultant orthopaedic surgeons. I have a regular trauma list every week. My elective practice purely upper limb surgery. I am the leading shoulder & elbow surgeon in Hull & East Yorkshire University Teaching Hospitals. I have introduce almost all the cutting edge procedures that are offered currently in shoulder & elbow surgery in Hull. This include various types of shoulder replacements, complex shoulder and elbow keyhole procedures, and various sport related surgical procedures.
