Mr Issaq Ahmed is a full time orthopaedic consultant at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Royal Hospital of Sick Children where he treats a wide range of hip and knee pathologies. Mr Ahmed completed his orthopaedic registrar training in Edinburgh and then undertook specialist fellowships in the North East of England and Australia where he trained under world leading surgeons and developed an interest in ligament surgery of the knee and robotic assisted joint replacement surgery. Mr Ahmed continues to develop the joint replacement service in Edinburgh. He led the enhanced recovery after joint replacement surgery (ERAS) group in Lothian for over a decade and now is part of the Scottish ERAS group which focuses on enhancing the recovery of patients undergoing joint replacement surgery.
