Mr Ismail Mallick

Mr Ismail Mallick is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon. His NHS practice is based at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. He trained in General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery in Yorkshire and Humberside. He was awarded a PhD at the University College London for his thesis on Ischaemia Reperfusion Injury of the Intestine and Strategies to prevent this. He completed Advanced Colorectal Surgical Fellowship at the world renowned Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland Ohio and then was appointed as a consultant in Bournemouth in 2015. He has continued to develop his interests and expertise as a consultant. He is a JAG accredited Endoscopist and is a trainer. He has a wide range of experience in the management of colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel and diverticular disease, coloproctological conditions (fissure, fistula, pilonidal sinus and haemorrhoids) and external rectal prolapse. In addition to his surgical commitments, Mr Mallick has a strong interest in surgical teaching. He is also Clinical Lead for Audit in Surgery at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Mr Mallick has 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is frequently invited to speak at both national and international conferences. He is a Member of Court of Examiners at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is also an active examiner for the European Board of Surgery exams in Coloproctology. Recently he has been appointed to Panel of Examiners – Intercollegiate Specialty Board in General Surgery. In addition to this he plays an active role in the Executive Council of the Court of Examiners at the Royal College of Surgeons of England as their EDI Lead.
