Born in a small Swiss town (1979). His dream was to become a doctor and after being successful in the National examinations, he joined the Medical School of the University of Crete (1998). After Graduation, he went to UK as an Honorary Senior House Officer in Surgery. He was trained in Intensive and Critical Care at Tripolis General Hospital’s ICU and he served the Hellenic Army as a doctor (2006-2008). In 2008, he entered the Specialty Training in General Surgery. As a surgical resident, he was trained in General and Vascular Surgery and spent 6 months in Transplant Surgery of the Hippokration University Hospital of Thessaloniki. Just before the end of his training, he went to Manchester as a Clinical Fellow in Trauma and HPB Surgery for 10 months. After finishing his specialty training (2014), he moved to UK for sub-specialty training in Upper GI Surgery and worked as a Senior Clinical Fellow in UGI Surgery at Countess of Chester Hospital for 2,5 years. On June 2016, he moved to Oxford as he was offered a Fellowship in Bariatric and Oesophagogastric Surgery at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Furthermore, he was covering oncalls in John Radcliffe Hospital which is the Major Trauma Center of Thames Valley region, serving a population of almost 3 million. He is now working as Consultant General and Emergency Surgeon with specialist interest in laparoscopic upper GI and bariatric surgery at Kingston Hospital in London. He is also an Honorary Consultant Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals and St George’s University Hospital NHS FT. Teaching is the strongest part of his CV. He is an active ATLS, PHTLS, CCrISP, DSTC and MUSEC Instructor. He is the Medical Director of a Life Support Course Agency, which organises hybrid Trauma and Military Life Support courses and published two manuals: ‘Emergency Trauma Response’ and ‘Tactical Combat Rescue’. He was Surgical Tutor of Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences of the University of Oxford (2016-17) and he was nominated for Teacher of the Year and Tutor of the Year (2017) from Medical students of University of Oxford. He is Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and organiseda Laparoscopic Course for Oxford Deanery Core Trainees. He participated as a Faculty in 22 International and 27 National courses and as a Medical Director in 15 courses. He is the Educational and Clinical Supervisor of Kingston Hospital’s Surgical Trainees and an Examiner of the Central Recruitment Panel for the National Entry Exams for Core and Higher Surgical Trainees of London Deanery. He is appointed by his Hospital and the Royal College of Surgeons of England as College Tutor for Surgery. Recently he became a Member of the Educational Committee of the European Society of Trauma & Emergency Surgery (ESTES).
