Mr Huw Oliphant

Mr Oliphant is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon, specialising in oculoplastic surgery. He works full time at the Sussex Eye Hospital, Brighton, University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.  He also works at Eastbourne, East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. He is a comprehensively trained eye surgeon, having performed thousands of operations and with more than a decade of experience in ophthalmology. He undertakes both routine and complex cataract surgery in his NHS practice, alongside his oculoplastic workload. He has recently developed a regional service for patients who have undergone or require eye removal surgery.  His oculoplastic work is underpinned by having completed two fellowships in oculoplastic (eyelid), lacrimal (watery eye) and orbital (eye socket) surgery at Brighton and then the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle. Mr Oliphant has a strong interest in the education of medical students and junior doctors. He leads the undergraduate programme for ophthalmology at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, where he is an honorary lecturer.
