GMC reg: 4673042Miss Arshad is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery and pelvic and acetabular trauma. She is Head of Orthopaedic Trauma at the Royal London Hospital. Her professional practice is based on hip and knee arthroplasty and the identification and management of problems affecting the hip or knee. Miss Arshad graduated from Cambridge University and trained on the prestigious Percivall Pott Rotation. She worked also in New York and California in translational research methods as a medical student. Her elective was spent in Salvador da Bahia in Brazil investigating operative emergencies, beautiful beaches and the fascinating local culture. Miss Arshad spent time in Norfolk as a trainee and close to completion was appointed as the senior revision hip fellow, working with John Nolan, a recent past president of the British Hip Society. She also completed fellowships in Germany with Professor Michael Raschke, Head of AO and in Denmark with Professor Kjeld Sobelle who pioneered minimally invasive periacetabular osteotomy. Her year as the pelvic and acetabular fellow at Barts Health working alongside Paul Culpan and Peter Bates allowed Miss Arshad to enhance her abilities in acetabular reconstruction for arthroplasty as well as trauma. Miss Arshad carries out complex or challenging hip and knee replacement surgery and accepts referrals from surgeons around the region. The majority of this work is for revision hip surgery where hip replacements have developed problems which she can address. Miss Arshad is a current ATLS instructor and also teach as faculty for AO and the Royal London FRCS Viva course. She recently returned to Newcastle as course convenor for an international training course for orthopaedic surgeons. Since returning to London, Miss Arshad has been appointed as Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer and tutor for the International Orthopaedic Trauma Sciences MSc at Queen Mary University of London.
