Himender Makker is Consultant Physician in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine ( Full time Private practice) He has extensive experience in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. He worked as NHS Consultant at the University College London and the North Middlesex University Hospitals from July 1997 till July 2024. He has a specialist experience in management of lung cancer, sleep disordered breathing and difficult asthma. He managed COVID patients during the pandemic and contributed to the post COVID service. He conducted research into "Mechanism of exercise induced asthma" for DM at the University of Southampton. He supervised MSc and MD research fellows for projects on mechanisms of neuropsychological impairment in sleep apnoea. He has presented his research at the National and International meetings. He has published original papers, book chapters and books on lung cancer and sleep apnoea. He has peer-reviewed MRC grant applications, project reviews for American Thoracic Society. Recently NICE Specialist Committee member to Advisory committee on home testing devices for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea He was honorary Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the UCL and Associated Professor in Medicine at St Georges Undergraduate Medical School (Granada). He was Director of Research and Development at the NHS trust and received an MBA in Health services management.
