Mr Henry Lin

Mr Henry Lin is a Consultant Oculoplastics and Cataract Surgeon specialising in eyelid plastic surgery, watery eye, and modern cataract surgery. He is triple-qualified through the specialist examinations of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the European Board of Ophthalmology and the International Council of Ophthalmology, passing each examination at the first attempt. He is also a member of the British Oculo-Plastic Surgery Society. Mr Lin trained in advanced small-incision cataract surgery in the East of England before completing further specialist training in Eyelid plastic surgery in Cambridge. His early experience included an elective at the internationally renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital. He was subsequently appointed as a Consultant at Colchester Eye Centre, where he leads the eyelid plastic surgery services. He performs approximately 1,000 eyelid procedures each year, alongside cataract surgery, and has extensive experience treating both functional and cosmetic eyelid concerns. Mr Lin takes a meticulous and personalised approach to surgery. He aims to achieve natural-looking results while minimising visible scarring and preserving the function of the eye and eyelids. Where appropriate, he uses modern techniques, including fine electrosurgery, to support precision, reduce tissue trauma and aid recovery. Alongside his clinical work, Mr Lin teaches oculoplastic and cataract surgery as a Faculty Member for Microsurgical Skills at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He also trains surgeons in his NHS operating theatres and serves as his department’s lead for the University of East Anglia and Anglia Ruskin University. He has published research on oculoplastic surgery, tear duct surgery and complications associated with facial fillers. His work has appeared in respected journals including the British Medical Journal, Eye, Orbit, the European Journal of Ophthalmology, International Ophthalmology and Surgical and Radiological Anatomy. He is also a peer reviewer for several academic journals and has been invited to present his work nationally and internationally. Mr Lin has qualifications in medical ethics and law from both the University of Cambridge and the University of London, reflecting his commitment to high professional standards, careful decision-making and patient-centred care. Outside surgery, Mr Lin enjoys spending time with his family, stone carving and playing the piano.
