Mr Hasan A.R. Qazi

I completed my Basic Surgical Training in Liverpool and achieved my Doctorate in Urinary Bladder Cancer at the Academic Department at the University of Leicester, having been awarded a number of research grants, including the British Urological Foundation research award. I completed my Urology training from Glasgow and was the first British trainee to be invited for a 12 month Fellowship in Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery at University Hospital Leipzig, a world-leading centre, under the supervision of Professor Jens-Uwe Stolzenburg, a pioneer in keyhole surgery. I was appointed Consultant Urologist in Glasgow in 2013 where I set up Laparoscopic Pelvic Cancer surgery, and went on to establish the Robotic Prostatectomy Program for the West of Scotland. I trained a team of doctors, nurses and physiotherapists for a large regional service, prior to moving to St George’s University Hospital, London, in 2017. I have a sub-speciality interest in prostate cancer and urinary tract issues in men and women. I am actively involved in teaching and training at a number of international courses, and am the Course Director for the ‘innovations in laparoscopy’ course in Hamburg and have trained over 250 experienced Urologists from across Europe. I have published a large number of papers in leading journals and presented widely at a large number of international conferences. In addition, I have co-authored 2 DVD's regarding laparoscopic and Robotic surgical techniques. I am the Clinical Lead for Urology Cancer at St George's and the Urology Chair at RM Partners, the alliance that overseas delivery of Urology Cancer across South West London.

I have a broad based practice and within my role within the NHS, look after general urology conditions. These include Lower Urinary issues in men and women, Urinary Tract infections and pelvic pain as well as Urological Cancers. I have a subspecialist interest in Prostate Cancer and a high volume surgeon, with results that are among the best in the UK. Having trained at the centre that pioneered nerve sparing prostatectomy, I have an interest in preserving potency in men with prostate cancer and to obtain excellent functional outcomes from Robotic Prostatectomy. I am the Clinical Lead for the RAPID Prostate Cancer diagnosis Service, one of three in the UK. I am one of the few surgeons in the UK undertaking all surgeries for prostatic enlargement including Aquablation, Rezum and HOLEP
