Mr Grigorios Premetis

Mr Gregory Premetis is a full-time Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals, Royal Free London Trust, where he is the lead clinician for acute gynaecology, early pregnancy and gynaecology ultrasound. He believes in the vital importance of listening actively to patients, showing empathy and respect and explaining clearly the nature of the pathology. He is committed to providing the best possible individualised care, in a calm and reassuring manner. Mr Premetis trained as a doctor at the ‘Tor Vergata’ University in Rome and the ‘National and Capodistrian University’ in Athens, qualifying in 2000, before pursuing a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in London. Throughout his training he showed special interest in integrating ultrasound scan into clinical gynaecological care focusing on one-stop clinics and ambulatory care. He has been a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists since 2012. He is also an accredited Colposcopist and a member of the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology since 2014. After completing his specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology he undertook a two-year fellowship in early pregnancy and gynaecology ultrasound at University College London Hospitals, under the direction of Professor Davor Jurkovic. Mr Premetis is an experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in the management of early pregnancy concerns, miscarriages, menstrual disorders, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, polycystic ovary syndrome, menopause issues, sexual health, and colposcopy/ management of abnormal smears. In his NHS practice as an Obstetrician he specialises in advanced labour ward practice and is the clinical lead for preterm birth. Mr Premetis is very fluent in English, Greek, Italian and French.

 Special interest in integrating ultrasound scan into clinical gynaecological care focusing on one-stop clinics and ambulatory care.  Expert in assessing women with early pregnancy complications and endometriosis. He is the lead of early pregnancy services in his NHS hospital. He is also part of the advanced endometriosis clinic and is able not only to diagnose it on ultrasound scan but also to assess its severity, its precise location, the involvement of pelvic organs and guide decisions on optimal treatment options. Expert in assessing the endometrium and ovarian cysts of both premenopausal and postmenopausal women Highly skilled in diagnosing and managing causes of pelvic pain and menstrual problems such as pelvic adhesions, uterine fibroids and adenomyosis. Mr Premetis is proficient in the use of three-dimensional ultrasound scan for the diagnosis of congenital uterine anomalies, intrauterine adhesions and for the accurate localisation of intrauterine contraceptive devices.
