Mr Tsavellas was born and educated in London. After qualifying from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1990, he undertook surgical training at University College and Middlesex Hospitals in central London and subsequently on the Wessex rotation, in the South of England. He spent several years working in regional specialist units and was awarded the highly coveted degree of Master of Surgery (MS) from the University of London for research into colorectal cancer undertaken at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in London. Mr Tsavellas gained the specialist Intercollegiate Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Gen Surg) in Feb 2003, and holds the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST). He was appointed as a substantive Consultant General & GI Surgeon at the East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust in 2004 and since that time has undertaken private practice at the Chaucer BMI Hospital in Canterbury and the Spencer Private Hospital in Margate.

Mr Tsavellas has over 30 years of experience in the field of general surgery with many thousands of cases successfully performed. His practice includes all aspects of colorectal disease, in particular bowel cancer, diverticular disease, haemorrhoids, rectal bleeding, anal fissure, inflammatory bowel disease, anal fistula, rectal prolapse, pruritis ani, constipation, faecal incontinence and complex or recurrent pilonidal sinus disease. He has performed over 3000 keyhole gallbladder operations and over 2000 laparoscopic hernia operations and many hundreds of operations for bowel cancer.
