This information is provided by Mr George Smith.
George Smith is a Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Vascular Surgery at the Hull York Medical School and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in the UK. He has also been appointed as a Vascular Surgical Specialty Lead at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of the International Surgical Wound Association. He is the Clinical Lead for both the Hull Vascular Surgery unit and the National Wound Care strategy Programme First Implementation group in the East Riding of Yorkshire. George has worked as an expert advisor to the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) as well as for Industry partners. He has helped to lead a UK national research priority setting exercise with the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland and the James Lind Alliance. George provides arterial and venous procedures as well as expert care for chronic wounds including venous ulcers and diabetic feet. His research interests focus on outcomes following major limb amputations and optimising healing of chronic and surgical wounds including antibiotic stewardship / resistance and prevention and management of post -operative infections.
