Mr Ganapathy Raman Perianayagam

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Yorkshire, specialising in hip and knee surgery. I currently work at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, focusing on the management of traumatic hip and knee conditions, degenerative joint diseases, high-performance joint replacement surgery, periprosthetic fractures, and revision hip and knee replacements. I also serves as the hospital clinical lead for Fracture Neck of Femur patients. With over 20 years of experience in orthopaedic and trauma surgery, I have been involved in more than 4,600 surgical procedures, including 1000 hip and knee replacement surgeries. I have completed Higher Surgical Training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery through the East Midlands South training program in the UK and was awarded his CCT in August 2020. Following this, I undertook three international fellowships in Australia, covering adult reconstruction, revision arthroplasty, trauma, and orthopaedic oncology. These fellowships were completed at prestigious centres including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney (7 months in arthroplasty and orthopaedic oncology), Royal Melbourne Hospital (12 months in arthroplasty and pelvic trauma), and Royal Adelaide Hospital (12 months in revision arthroplasty). I am a Faculty member for the AO Recon Course and have served as an ATLS instructor. I am GCP trained, participating in REC-approved clinical projects. I am the Assigned Educational Supervisor and clinical lead for the Royal College of Surgeons, England approved International Surgical Training Programme for Orthopaedics in Doncaster Royal Infirmary. As a consultant I have successfully completed 300 Total knee replacements, 260 Total hip replacements and 40 Revision surgeries. In the Independent sector I work for the Parkhill Hospital, Ramsay Health Group and Thornbury Hospital, Circle Health Group. In the independent sector I have completed 170 hip and knee joint replacement surgeries over the last 2 years.

My clinical interests encompass hip pain, arthritis, and replacement, knee pain, arthritis, and replacement, failed hip and knee replacements requiring revision surgery, trochanteric bursitis, hip impingement, knee and hip soft tissue injuries, meniscal problems, and sports injuries of the hip and knee. Treatments that I provide include hip and knee replacement surgery, knee arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, revision hip and knee replacement surgery, periprosthetic fracture fixation, metastatic bone cancer surgery of the hip and knee, and hip and knee injections.
