Dr Foteini Kavvoura

Dr Kavvoura is a Consultant Physician in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Bariatric Medicine at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, with over 15 years experience in managing endocrine, diabetes and obesity problems. Dr Kavvoura leads the Young Adult Diabetes Service and co-leads the Bariatric Service in RBH. She manages all endocrine conditions, including thyroid, pituitary, adrenal, parathyroid problems, PCOS, fertility issues, as well as testosterone replacement. She is the regional lead for genetic forms of diabetes in West Berkshire. Dr Kavvoura manages all causes of diabetes, including type 1 and type 2 diabetes and has a special interest in Type 1 diabetes and technology as well as Early Onset Type 2 diabetes. Dr Kavvoura has an extensive experience in medical and surgical weight loss management, providing pre and post-bariatric medical care. Dr Kavvoura graduated from the University of Ioannina, School of Medicine in 2005 with 1st class Honours. She completed her PhD in Genetic Epidemiology in 2008 at the same University, which led to a number of publications in top scientific journals. She completed her Clinical Training at the East of England and Oxford. Between 2012 and 2016, she served as an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer at the University of Oxford combining clinical work with academic research, which led to awards by the American Diabetes Association and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes. Dr Kavvoura was awarded the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians, London in 2010 and was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London in 2020. Dr Kavvoura is the Foundation Training Programme Director at the Oxford Foundation School. Dr Kavvoura teaches regularly medical students, doctors in training and other healthcare professionals. She serves as the Clinical Lead in the department of Diabetes and Endocrinology at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. Dr Kavvoura is a member of the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists, the Society for Endocrinology, Diabetes UK, European Society for Endocrinology. Dr Kavvoura ensures a holistic approach and prides herself in providing personalised care.
