Mr Feilim Murphy is a senior Consultant Neonatal, Paediatric and Adolescent Urologist as St George’s University NHS Trust in London. After initially training in Ireland in both Temple Street Children’s Hospital and Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children he worked in Australia and New Zealand. He returned to Dublin to complete his training in paediatric surgical training and was awarded a fellowship in paediatric surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed the paediatric urology fellowship in London and worked as a Consultant Paediatric Urologist in Great Ormond Street for Children and Evelina Children’s Hospital before moving to St George’s in 2007.
Mr Murphy has made minimally invasive urological surgery the cornerstone of his practice. He has a significant interest in reconstructive surgery, hypospadias surgery and kidney problems. He has a special interest in the undescended testis, wetting disorders and children with special needs who are incontinent. He has written the BAPU consensus document on undescended testes and megaureters.
Feilim wants your child’s visit to the hospital to be fun and stress free. Your child’s needs and wellbeing is the most important element of the consultation.
Children with incontinence at any age can find a visit to the doctor difficult. Feilim and his team understand this upset and will do absolutely everything in their power to ensure that your child can become dry and work with you to make that happen.
He is a member of numerous international paediatric surgery and urology organisations and a regular reviewer for many prestigious national and international journals. He has published many scientific articles and paper, book chapters and international research presentations and is the research lead for paediatric surgery and urology in St George’s hospital. He has been invited worldwide to talk about the key issues in paediatric urology and potential for future improvements in the field. He has been the elected secretary to the British Association of Paediatric Urologists
Feilim was the clinical director for paediatric between 2016 and 2018 in St George’s. In 2018 he was appointed the clinical lead for children’s surgery for the South Thames Paediatric Network.
Feilim works with a wonderful multi-disciplinary team who aim to provide world class care for all children and whose motto is ‘to improve the outcome for every single child’.
