Dr Faisal Khan

Faisal Khan is Consultant Cardiologist at St George’s, Epsom, and St Helier Hospital Group and I also see patients privately at HCA Harley Street Clinic, London Bridge Hospital and Spire St Anthony's Hospital. He was educated at Latymer Upper School in London and trained in Medicine at Barts and The London Hospitals, achieving an additional first-class intercalated degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine. He was awarded the Tallow Chandlers scholarship and the Drapers Prize for academic excellence during this time. Following this, he completed the prestigious North East Thames Academic Foundation Programme and the South London Cardiology Registrar rotation, gaining the NHS innovations award during this period for service improvements. He undertook cardiovascular research with funding from the British Heart Foundation and gained coronary intervention training at St George's Hospital, King's College Hospital and Barts Heart Centre. He was selected for the highly competitive British Cardiac Society Structural Fellowship, travelling to Bern, Switzerland where he trained for a year, becoming expert in structural intervention including TAVI, PFO closure and percutaneous edge-to-edge repair techniques. He has extensive experience in performing minimally invasive procedures to treat heart conditions, including coronary angioplasty (stent placement) and advanced structural heart interventions. He has scrubbed in over 2,000 coronary angioplasty procedures, ranging from routine elective cases to emergency interventions for heart attacks. His expertise includes complex techniques such as rotational atherectomy (to remove calcified blockages) and intravascular imaging to ensure optimal outcomes. He is also part of the regional cardiogenic shock programme, delivering life-saving mechanical support to critically ill patients. In addition, he has performed over 1,000 structural heart interventions, including transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), transcatheter mitral edge-to-edge repair (mTEER), patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure, and paravalvular leak (PVL) closure. He thoroughly enjoys his work and the satisfaction that comes from helping patients live longer and better lives.
