Mr Fabio Nicoli

Dr. Fabio Nicoli received his medical degree from University of Rome ‘Tor Vergata’ in 2007 and completed his training in “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery” at the University of Rome (Prof. Cervelli). He has had world-class training in plastic surgery from Rome and Milan (Italy), Valencia and Barcelona (Spain), Chennai and Coimbatore (India), Seattle and Rochester (USA). He has completed 3 prestigious microsurgical fellowships including the “China Medical University Hospital” with Prof. Hung-Chi Chen, Taichung (Taiwan), “Guy’s & St. Thomas Hospital”, London (UK) and “Royal Victoria Infirmary”, Newcastle upon Tyne (UK). During this time, he has had the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the most distinguished surgeons in their respective fields including Cosmetic Surgery, Laser, Skin Cancer, Breast Reconstruction and Microsurgery whilst completing his PhD with European Certification, in Surgical Technologies at the University of Rome ‘Tor Vergata’. He has worldwide connections as a former consultant in Saudi Arabia and in the UK (Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust). Currently working as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Northumbria NHS Trust alongside a Researcher and Lecturer at Newcastle University (UK). He is passionate about innovation in the medical field and being at the forefront of new techniques, materials and technologies that improves patient care. At the same time, he develops his interest in Global Health Surgery thus he provides surgical assistance to underprivileged people around the world. His main clinical work is concentrated on the reconstructive surgery in oncology and after trauma. His research topics focus on clinical outcomes after breast surgery, scar treatment, reperfusion injury, lymphatics, laser therapy, robotic surgery and regenerative medicine. He is on the editorial board of International Journal of Surgery and several other journals within the surgical field. He has also written over 120 peer reviewed papers, and presented at several national and international conferences.
