GMC reg: 3350014Eric Jauniaux, MD, PhD, FRCOG is a Professor in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine, EGA Institute for Women Health, Faculty of Population Health Science, University College London, London, UK and an honorary consultant Obstetrician Gynaecologist at University College London Hospitals, NHS. He is a member of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ISUOG), Royal Society of Medicine (RSM), European Society in Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and British Menopause Society (BMS). He is a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologist (RCOG). He is a practicing obstetrician gynaecologist with an international expertise in materno-fetal medicine and in particular in the diagnosis and management of placental related-complications of pregnancy including recurrent miscarriage and anomalies of placentation (placenta previa, placenta accreta, preeclampsia and vasa previa). Academically, Eric Jauniaux has worked for over 30 years on placental and fetal development. He is the author/co-author of over 460 peer-reviewed original articles and has edited/co-edited 14 books/textbooks, including Embryonic medicine & therapy with Sir Bob Edwards (Nobel Prize in Medicine 2010). He was awarded the international prize for research in “Placentology” by the International Placental Federations Association (IPFA) and a personal chair at UCL in 2002. He was made a Doctor Honoris Causa (Dr.hc) by the University Carol Davila of Bucarest in 2022 for his contribution to medical research. Professor Eric Jauniaux lectures regularly around the world and currently collaborates for clinical research with Universite Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), University of Cairo, University of Tel Aviv and University of Jakarta. He is CRG (clinical reference group) National clinical lead for the development of Specialised Maternity Care for Patients Diagnosed with placenta accreta. In 2006, he co-founded Medical Aid Films (MAF) a UK-registered charity [no 1121578] to provide multi-media programs for education and training in maternal and child health for developing countries (www.medicalaidfilms.org). MAF received the BAFTA's Gift of the Academy in 2017 and UK Asian Voice Charity Awards in 2019.
