Miss Lizzie Bean is a consultant gynaecologist at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. She specialises in advanced gynaecological ultrasound examination, diagnosis and treatment of various gynaecological conditions. She graduated from University College London Medical School in 2010 and trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the North Central and East London Deanery. She has subspecialised in advanced laparoscopic surgery at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She took three years out of her training to complete a clinical research fellowship at University College London Hospitals, where she developed specialist skills in advanced gynaecological ultrasound, specialising in the diagnosis of early pregnancy complications and ultrasound diagnosis of endometriosis. She has an extensive research background and was awarded a PhD on the subject of ‘ultrasound studies of the natural history of endometriosis’ from University College London. She is a member of senior council for the British Society of Gynaecologist Endoscopy, chairing the diagnostics portfolio and teaches nationally and internationally on the subject of non-invasive diagnosis of endometriosis, the natural history of endometriosis and the relationship between endometriosis and pregnancy.
