Mr Edward Larkin

I have been a  Consultant since 1998 and on the Specialist Register for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) since 1996. My primary medical qualification was obtained from the University of Cambridge in 1986 . After initial professional training in Cambridge and Norwich , I undertook a generalist surgical training on the south coast before specialist training in OMFS in Glasgow and  then North Wales. Elective periods of training were undertaken in Amsterdam and Salt Lake City.  I was a consultant in the West Midlands between 1998 and 2005 but moved to Edinburgh in April 2005, with a principal aim of attracting talented colleagues and  rebuilding and modernising  a 'stalled' NHS service for the people of Edinburgh and the Lothians. As a  reservist  military  officer I was the last OMFS surgeon to deploy to Afghanistan before the closure of Camp Bastion in 2014. I have a wide range of professional interests and retain close contacts with my OMFS colleagues and  consultants from  other related specialties locally,  both within the NHS and Private sectors.

Full range of Specialty Clinical interests. I have been a consultant in Edinburgh for 20 years and have good local knowledge of the skills and expertise of my colleagues and will direct patients to them appropriately and as required.
