Dr Tacson Fernandez, Hon. Associate Professor, UCL, MBBS, FRCA, FFPMCAI, FCARCSI, FIPP, RYT Dr Fernandez is an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London and Lead Clinical Consultant for Neuromodulation services at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, one of London’s leading hospitals in the management of musculo-skeletal disorders.
Dr Fernandez has specialised in interventional chronic pain management, balancing it with a multidimensional model including cognitive, behavioural, pharmacological, interventional and rehabilitative strategies.
Dr Fernandez offers interventional pain management techniques which include a wide range of therapies including, but not limited to, facet joint injections/epidurals in the cervical, lumbar and thoracic areas, rhizolysis/radiofrequency denervation, pulsed radiofrequency procedures, dorsal root ganglion blocks, selective nerve blockade, peripheral electrical stimulation strategies, spinal cord stimulators, peripheral nerve stimulators, sympathetic plexus blocks, stellate ganglion blocks and a range of peripheral nerve block techniques to help manage pain. Also offering a range of pharmacological management options for nociceptive, neuropathic and mixed nociceptive-neuropathic pain states including opioid management strategies.
Dr Fernandez has been an invited speaker on management of complex chronic pain and cognitive approaches in pain management both nationally and internationally. Dr Fernandez has also published on pain related matters and have also authored the textbook chapter on post-operative pain management, in Essentials of Neurosurgical Anesthesia and Critical Care (Springer, USA). Dr Fernandez is actively involved in bringing innovation to the forefront of patient care through links with Innovate, UK and the Knowledge Transfer Network, UK.
