GMC reg: 4532019Dr Steve Ramcharitar is a Consultant Cardiologist at the Great Western Hospital. He is a specialist in the diagnoses and treatment of coronary artery disease. His medical schooling was in Oxford where he was the Pre-Clinical Advisor's Scholar in 1993. He gained membership of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 2002. As a junior doctor he was trained on the Professorial NDM team at the John Radcliffe Hospital and undertook cardiology specialist training at Glenfield Hospital. In 2006-2008 he was awarded an Interventional Fellowship to the Thoraxcenter in Rotterdam where he was a live case operator to several international cardiac meetings. Dr Ramcharitar academic interest has resulted in several key publications in the understanding of the aetiology of coronary disease and evaluating the various imaging and stenting technologies used in treating this condition. He holds a doctorate from the University of Oxford in Chemistry/Biochemistry and did a second doctorate whilst a fellow with Professor Patrick Serruys in Interventional Cardiology at the Erasmus University, Rotterdam. He has done post doctoral research at the Scripps Research Institute the USA, and as a JSPS fellow in Japan. He is a Fellow of the Foulkes Foundation and a member of the European Bifurcation Club. He is also a Fellow of European Society of Cardiology, a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. Dr Ramcharitar aims to supports his clinical practice with best scientific evidence. He has published over 90 peer review papers and is on the Editorial Board of Indian Heart Journal, EuroIntervention, Nature Scientific Reports, Minimal Invasive Surgery, Cardiovascular Revascularisation Medicine
