Dr Simon Hetherington

Dr Hetherington is an Interventional Cardiologist at Kettering General Hospital in addition to Honorary Senior Lecturer in Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Leicester. He graduated from the University of Leicester School of Medicine and has undertaken training in Cardiology at hospitals in Leicester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Middlesbrough and Dublin, Ireland. His interests outside of work include rugby, motorsports and winter sports. He enjoys “tinkering” with cars and is trying to modify a road car for track use.

Dr Hetherington is an experienced Cardiologist treating patients with a broad spectrum of cardiovascular diseases (including coronary heart disease/angina, atrial fibrillation/arrhythmia, hypertension, heart failure/cardiomyopathy and valvular heart disease). He has a particular interest in cardiovascular imaging and the assessment and management of ischaemic heart disease (non-invasive imaging/stress testing, coronary angiography, fractional flow studies, angioplasty and stenting) and prefers the transradial approach.
