Dr Seema Arif

Consultant Clinical Oncologist 1) Velindre Cancer Centre 2) Rutherford Cancer Centres MBBS, MRCP, FRCR, PGCME Seema Arif is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Velindre Cancer Centre, Cardiff, UK, specialises in Upper and lower GI cancers and is lead local investigator for a number of clinical trials in these areas. She graduated from Jawaharlal Medical College in Belgaum, India and completed all her post graduate training in the UK. She completed MRCP in Internal Medicine, thereafter specialised in Oncology. Seema started her oncology career at the St Thomas’ Hospital, London followed by Western General Hospital, Edinburgh and completed her oncology training in Velindre Cancer Centre, Cardiff. Seema did a Radiation Oncology Fellowship  at the prestigious Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto after which she took up a consultant post in Cardiff. Seema used these skills and knowledge to set up the first Liver SBRT clinical service in Wales in 2014.Her special interests are upper and lower gastrointestinal cancers in particular liver, biliary tract and pancreatic cancers. She also specialises in bowel cancers. Seema is trained to deliver radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Seema has completed a degree in Medical Education from Cardiff University. She has been a Cardiff FRCR Course faculty member since 2008 and has a keen interest in International Educational Collaboration, especially with India where her roots are from. She started the Cardiff FRCR 2 course International day which introduces UK cancer management pathways, communication and presentation skills to non- UK trainees taking the FRCR exam. Seema is currently the Secretary for the Standing Welsh Committee of the Royal College of Radiologists , London.
