Dr Roser Vega Palomares

Dr Roser Vega obtained her specialty degree in gastroenterology in 1997 and has more than 25 years in the field of Gastroenterology. She is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at University College Hospital in London and hold the position of Colonoscopy Interventional Lead and Deputy Director of Bowel Cancer Screening for North-Central London. She has trained in advance interventional endoscopy in the United Kingdom since her appointment as Consultant in 2012. University College Hospital has one of the largest endoscopy services in the United Kingdom with 8 endoscopy rooms and a large amount of advanced interventional upper GI, pancreato-biliary and lower GI endoscopy is performed on regular basis. Dr. Vega set up the colonic ESD service at University College Hospital in 2019 after completing her training and mentoring and is currently performing colonic ESD on weekly basis in her institution.  Her special interest is Innovation in endoscopy and colonoscopy, endoscopic treatment of early colonic cancers and evolutionary biomarkers in ulcerative colitis for dysplasia. She also has worked extensively in the field of pathophysiology in inflammatory bowel disease and in particular the understanding of the pathogenic role of CMV in steroid-resistant patients and the improvement of their outcome after antiviral treatment.  Dr Vega is actively involved in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching as well as colonoscopy training. She regularly presents in national and international meetings and has actively participated in live endoscopy courses teaching about all aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy.
