Dr Rahul Potluri

Dr Rahul Potluri is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. He works cross-site in the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and North Devon District Hospital. He also holds an academic role at the University of Exeter Medical School. He undertook undergraduate medical training at the University of Birmingham before moving to Imperial College London for Academic Foundation Training and then to Manchester where he was appointed as an Academic Clinical Fellow alongside his cardiology speciality training. His clinical training included rotating through a number of busy hospitals across the UK including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Royal Marsden Hospital, Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester Royal Infirmary and Blackpool Hospital. He also undertook a dedicated two-year interventional cardiology fellowship at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada where he trained extensively in all aspects of percutaneous coronary intervention. He was appointed to his current role in Devon in 2019. Prior to this he worked in Hyderabad, India as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and has experience of working in healthcare systems across three continents. Dr Potluri has an extensive academic background and has published widely. He is regularly invited to present at international conferences. His academic expertise is the utility of big data in Cardiovascular disease and he founded the ACALM Big Data Research Unit which has undertaken significant and widely reported research. Now, in his academic role at the University of Exeter Medical School, he is a Senior Clinical Tutor, Senior Lecturer and is the lead for Year 3 - Clinical Skills, Virtual Reality and OSCEs. Outside of work, he enjoys Devon life with his family, travelling and cricket!

His clinical practice includes all aspects of cardiology and particularly interventional cardiology. This includes coronary angiography, angioplasty and stenting, high risk procedures, complex procedures, left main stem procedures, bifurcation procedures, chronic total occlusion intervention and drug eluting balloon intervention.
