Dr Paul Broadhurst

Cardiologist with over 20 years of experience as a busy NHS consultant. Have developed the EP & ablation service in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary which now utilises 'state of the art' technologies including cryoballon ablation for atrial fibrillation along with mapping systems including CARTO, En-Site and Arrhythmia.  Device implants comprise pacemakers & defibrillators including subcutaneous-ICDs.  Very experienced in programming and troubleshooting complex devices. Run weekly Arrhythmia clinics and a Familial Arrhythmia Clinic with the Geneticists in which inidividuals at risk of serious rhythm disturbances  perhaps running in their family are evaluated. Also have a busy general cardiology practice and continue to be 'on-call' for acute emergencies (eg heart attacks, heart failure etc).  Have an active research programme and been involved in education all my professional career.  Recently demitted the role of Training Programme Director in which I was leading the training of the consultant cardiologists of tomorrow in the North of Scotland.  Am currently the Clinical Services Director of the Department of Cardiology in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. I bring the above experience to my busy privated practice at the Albyn Hospital, Aberdeen where I see patients on Monday mornings and Thursday evenings. In addition I perform invasive procedures, particularly device implants, EP studies and catheter ablations, at the Spire Shawfair Hospital in Edinburgh.
