Dr Shah has worked in leading cardiac centres in the UK and has completed his subspecialty training in University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff in heart failure and complex implantable cardiac devices. Dr Shah holds Fellowship of College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS General Medicine), Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (Ireland), Fellow of Royal College of Physicians, London, Certifications of British Heart Rhythm Society (BHRS UK) and Heart Failure Association of European Society of Cardiology. He has also been involved in several research projects and has published in peer reviewed journals.

Dr Shah has been working as a Consultant Cardiologist in Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust since August 2019. He sees the full spectrum of General Cardiology and runs specialist services in his main subspecialty interests including diagnosis and management of heart failure, cardiomyopathies, heart rhythm problems and recurrent blackouts. Dr Shah leads syncope service at Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust. He implants all forms of complex devices including heart monitors, pacemakers, defibrillators and biventricular devices (CRT-P & CRT-D).
