GMC reg: 4418991My undergraduate and immediate postgraduate medical training was based in Queens University Belfast and affiliated Teaching Hospitals, qualifying in 1997 from Queens. I moved to Leicester in 2003 to continue my training, achieving Higher Specialist Registration in Haematology in 2008. I completed a clinical fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplantation; Leukaemia, allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplantation are my main area of Clinical and Research Practice. I was appointed as a substantive Consultant Haematologist in 2009 at University Hospitals of Leicester with a specialist interest in Bone Marrow Transplantation and Leukaemias. As a Transplant physician I have an expertise in haemato-oncology. I manage patients with leukaemia, myelodysplasia, lymphomas, myeloma and myeloproliferative neoplasms. I also manage patients with general and benign haematological conditions. I am the Clinical Director of Bone Marrow Transplantation and the Stem Cell Collection Facility at the University Hospitals of Leicester. I also have an interest in therapeutic apheresis for non-haematological disorders. I am an International JACIE (Joint Accreditation Committee -ISCT) Inspector; this promotes high quality care in the practice of stem cell transplantation Internationally and in the UK. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and Royal College of Pathologists. I am an active member of the European Group of Bone Marrow Transplantation and have presented research at National and International meetings, with publications in high impact medical journals. I am active in Clinical Research and Trials and am the Principal investigator in Transplant and Leukaemia Trials in my NHS Practice.
