GMC reg: 4389170Dr Mamta Garg undertook her undergraduate and postgraduate medical training at BJ Medical College Pune India and obtained MD medicine form University of Poona. Following that worked as a postgraduate at PGIMER Chandigarh before migrating to the UK. She undertook her specialist training in Haematology in Manchester and worked towards an MD in Molecular Haematology at Manchester Royal Infirmary under the guidance of Prof JAL Yin. During this time she worked on minimal residual disease in acute myeloid leukaemia using WT1 gene as marker. She has been a consultant Haematologist since 2002 and has been working at Leicester Royal Infirmary since 2005. Dr Garg has special interest in Plasma cell (Multiple Myeloma MGUS and Amyloidosis) and Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (Polycythaemia Rubra Vera, Essential Thrombocythaemia and Myelofibrosis). She is specifically interested in making early diagnosis of myeloma and writes regularly in GP journals. Dr Garg is a member of various national committees and is Vice Chair of British Society of Haematology Task force for Guidelines and sits in MPN subgroup of the NCRI Haemato-Oncology Clinical Research Group. She has been part of many advisory boards of pharmaceutical companies working in myeloma and MPN. She is Lead for East Midlands division 1 of NCRI for malignant and subspecialty lead for non malignant haematology in division 6 and is committed to improving participation in clinical trials across East Midlands and works towards rationalising and streamlining work processes. Clinical trials portfolio – Chief Investigator for 5 Clinical trials, Principal investigator for 31 trials and sub-investigator in 5 trials in the last 5 years, many of which have led to oral and poster presentations in international meetings and publications in high impact journals.
