Dr Madan Thirugnanam

Dr. Madan Thirugnanam serves as the Lead Clinician for the Pain Management Department at the Royal Derby Hospital, part of the University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust. He also holds the position of Regional Advisor in Pain Medicine. Dr. Thirugnanam earned his medical degree and postgraduate qualification in Anaesthesia in India, followed by structured specialist anaesthetic training in the East Midlands region. He has completed advanced training in Pain Medicine and Regional Anaesthesia, with expertise in ultrasound-guided nerve blocks. This skill set enhances his interventional pain practice, enabling him to perform a wide range of X-ray and ultrasound-guided injections. Dr Madan also provides a comprehensive, holistic evaluation through a bio-psychosocial assessment, offering a variety of treatments including medications and nerve block injections, such as pulsed and conventional radiofrequency therapy. He has a special interest in managing pain from degenerative joint diseases, particularly in the back, neck, shoulders, hips, and knees. Dr. Thirugnanam specializes in radiofrequency treatments to relieve pain originating from these joints.
