GMC reg: 3195499I am on the General Medical Council Specialist Register for Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine. I qualified from St George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1987, obtaining my MB BS and in addition have an MD from the University of London, am a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, having obtained my Membership of the Royal College in 1991. I also hold a Diploma in Child Health from the Royal College of Physicians. Having undertaken a General Medical Registrar rotation in South West Thames I studied for my Master Degree at the Hammersmith Hospital prior to joining the South West Thames Diabetes and Endocrinology Senior Registrar Rotation. In June 1998 I was appointed Consultant Physician with an interest in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Kingston Hospital, and was Chairman of the Department of Medicine, and Trust Information Technology Lead for my last 4 years there. In March 2003 I moved to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and also held Honorary Consultant Endocrinologist Contracts with the Royal Brompton Hospital, London (where I undertook a Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes Clinic) and The Royal Marsden Hospital, our local Oncology Hospital. On the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital site I had a General Medicine responsibility as well as providing a Diabetes and Endocrine outpatient service with 7 colleagues. I was also the Clinical Lead for the Obesity Service for Central London Community Healthcare Trust (2009-2014). I left the NHS at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in December 2024 I was the Clinical Tutor for Chelsea and Westminster Hospital from 2003 to 2013 and then became the Director of Multi-professional Education for the trust in 2013 to 2017. I have taught on an MSc module in Diabetic Retinopathy with the University of Roehampton Diabetes MSc program, as well as teaching and examining on the Middlesex University / Rila Publications Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes and Endocrinology course from 1998, and a Plymouth University / RILA Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes, and a PGDip in Cardio-diabetes from 2017 to date. I was made an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine by Plymouth University in July 2019. I chaired the London Deanery Clinical Tutors group from 2007 to 2009, being deputy from 2005 to 2007. I am an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College, London and was Chairman of the Year 3 Examination Board for the Imperial College MB BS course (2008 – 2015). I was President of the British Association of Retinal Screening (BARS) from 2010 to 2013, having been a council member for BARS from 2006 to 2010, and represented the UK on the International Diabetes Federations Diabetic Retinopathy Education Group from 2011-2013. I was on the Department of Health’s Endocrinology Clinical Reference Group, and on the Departments of Health’s Improving Value Group
