Dr Colin Farquharson

Dr Farquharson is currently a Consultant Physician and Cardiologist at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, as well as the Deputy Medical Director for the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust. He also sees private patients at St Hugh's Hospital, Grimsby. He trained at Dundee University, then undertook general medical training in Tayside / Edinburgh, then advanced training in Cardiology across Yorkshire as well as at Harefield Hospital (UK), Los Angeles (USA) and Adelaide / Melbourne (Australia). Dr Farquharson achieved Completion of UK Specialist Training (CCST) in Cardiology / General (Internal) Medicine in June 2005. He has worked as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby, between 2005-2012, concurrently holding the honorary academic post of Senior Lecturer at Hull-York Medical School. He then took up the post of Senior Staff Cardiologist / Professor of Cardiology at Royal Darwin Hospital, Australia between 2012-2015, returning back to North East Lincolnshire in 2016. Dr Farquharson is a Consultant Cardiologist based in Grimsby, with a large NHS clinical practice. As a specialist with many years of training and experience; he will see patients with a large variety of heart conditions and symptoms, including heart failure, cardiac valve disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness, and dizzy spells / blackouts, as well as sports / occupational cardiac screening. He has extensive experience in a wide range of cardiac procedures, including radial and femoral access invasive coronary angiography, permanent pacemaker and loop recorder implantation, and cardiac imaging (such as transthoracic and transoesophageal echo).
