I have been a Consultant Gastroenterologist for over 12 years. I qualified from Nottingham University Medical School in 2001 and undertook my specialist training in Gastroenterology in the North East.  I pride myself in ensuring that I take time to listen carefully to patients, establish the diagnosis and then work out an investigation and management strategy together which I'm keen to see through until positive outcomes are achieved. I live with my wife and 14 year old daughter. I love eating out, skiing and holidays.

I have been a Consultant Gastroenterologist for over 13 years. I pride myself in ensuring that I take time to listen carefully to patients, establish the diagnosis and then work out a management strategy together which I see through to positive outcomes. I am an expert in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, managing tertiary referrals from across the region. I lead the Enteral Nutrition service at Newcastle, which means that I am skilled in therapeutic endoscopy and in assessing and subsequently managing patients requiring enteral feeding. One of my special interests is in assessing and managing functional bowel disorders including Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Constipation and Vomiting. I am a member of the regional Functional Bowel Multi-disciplinary Team. I also have expertise in the diagnosis and management of peptic ulcer disease, gastro-oesophageal reflux, Coeliac Disease and Barretts oesophagus.
