Medical School St Bartholomew's Hospital, qualified MRCP March 1980 (and subsequently elected FRCP), MD (research degree in histamine and histamine metabolism) University of London 1987 Hospitals at which I have worked in substantive posts: St Bartholomew's, Whittington, Royal Free, St Mary's, Royal Brompton, North Middlesex I am a Founder Member of the British Thoracic Society Specialist Advisory Group on Cough My research included an original scientific discovery, that a common respiratory pathogenic bacteria (Haemophilus influenzae) is capable of synthesising histamine in large quantities
