I have been working as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for the last 12 years. My areas of interest are cirrhosis and portal hypertension, non-alcoholic liver disease and viral hepatitis. I also specialise in advanced endoscopy including upper GI endoscopy, Variceal ligation, colonoscopy, bowel screening colonoscopy and ERCP. I am the current Clinical Service Director of Gastroenterology at ARI. My private practice in Gastroenterology is based at the BMI Albyn Hospital in Aberdeen.
I hold the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer in the University of Aberdeen and am involved in the teaching and training of MBBS and BDS students. I am the educational supervisor of Core Medical and Internal Medical trainees in Gastroenterology. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and a regular examiner for the PACES exams.
I hold posts in the Liver section, educational and programme committees of the British Society of Gastroenterology. I am involved in the Portal Hypertension and NAFLD SIG's of the British Association of the Study of the Liver (BASL). Outside, the working field, I am the current President of the Aberdeen Bengali Cultural Association.
