Dr Aliya Nausheen

Dr Nausheen graduated in 1996 and began her career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Her postgraduate higher specialised training was undertaken in NHS Grampian and West of Scotland. She has a vast experience working in public and private sector hospitals. She is currently working as a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI). Dr Nausheen’s main area of interest includes menstrual disorders, postmenopausal bleeding, polycystic ovaries and benign gynaecological conditions (endometriosis and fibroids). She can offer screening, investigations and management of these conditions in the form of transvaginal ultrasounds, out-patient hysteroscopy and colposcopy. She also provides services related to contraception including insertion of intrauterine system. Dr Nausheen is a skilled surgeon with an experience of over 20 years. She offers gynaecological surgeries including open procedures such as hysterectomy, myomectomy and ovarian cyst removal. Furthermore, she competently performs key-hole surgeries including laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy and treatment of endometriosis. Dr Nausheen is a BSCCP accredited colposcopist who is proficient in performing colposcopies. She offers full range of colposcopy services including investigation and management of the conditions related to abnormal smears. She also leads the Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) services for the Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GGC). Dr Nausheen is currently the lead of Obstetrics and Gynaecology for University of Glasgow’s medical students in GRI and is actively involved in the training of Junior doctors and medical students.
