Mr Douglas Matthews

Mr Matthews graduated in 2007 from medical school at Imperial College, London. He specialised in Orthopaedic Surgery on the South West Thames training program, centred around St George’s Hospital. During his training he worked at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, Chelsea & Westminster, the Royal Brompton and University College London Hospitals working with renowned pioneers in the field of Orthopaedic Surgery. He undertook several sub-speciality fellowships in Sydney, Australia focussing on robotic hip and knee joint replacements and sports medicine around the knee. He enhanced his knowledge with a further fellowship at St Mary’s Hospital major trauma centre and Charing Cross Hospital in London. Mr Matthews specialises in both knee and hip surgery, performing total and partial joint replacement surgery. He has a specialist interest in soft tissue knee and sport surgery performing ACL and other ligament reconstruction procedures as well as joint preservation techniques such as meniscal repair, cartilage transplant and osteotomy surgery to realign the leg and joint. Mr Matthews believes in working alongside his patients, listening to their specific circumstances, working in partnership to treat everyone as an individual and tailoring their surgery to each person’s specific needs.
