Mr Dirk Strauss

Mr Strauss has both a private and an NHS practice at The Royal Marsden. He is a Consultant Surgical Oncologist and General Surgeon in the Sarcoma Unit and Skin Unit at The Royal Marsden. He joined The Royal Marsden Sarcoma and Melanoma Unit in 2008. Before being appointed at The Royal Marsden he trained as a general surgeon in South Africa. He underwent further specialist training in upper GI Surgery at St Thomas’ Hospital, London and Surgical Oncology at The Royal Marsden. Before his full-time consultant appointment, he carried out a combined Research and Clinical Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at The Royal Marsden, culminating in several peer-reviewed publications and presentations in the field of oncology, sarcoma and melanoma. He has a special interest in surgery for limb, retroperitoneal and intra-abdominal sarcomas.  Mr Strauss is the National Coordinator for the EORTC STRASS study and participates actively in clinical trials within UK and Europe, and has a principal investigator role, as well as sub-investigator roles within the Sarcoma unit.
