I am a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist and Professor of Cardiology at the University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire and the BMI Meriden Hospital, Coventry and Head of the Heart Rhythm Research Group at the University of Warwick. (Professor TS Dhanjal MBChB(hons) PhD FRCP FESC). I qualified with first class honours from Birmingham University Medical School in 2000 and rotated through various Glasgow and Birmingham teaching hospitals before returning to University in 2003 to undertake research funded by the British Heart Foundation. I was awarded a PhD from Birmingham University in 2007. I was awarded a clinical training and research position at St Thomas’ Hospital, London where I completed my sub-speciality training in heart rhythm treatment (electrophysiology). Towards the end of my training I was awarded a two year advanced electrophysiology fellowship at the renowned Henri Mondor Hospital in Paris and was appointed as a Consultant in 2014. I am trained in all aspects of cardiac arrhythmia management including catheter ablation in particular ablation therapy for atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia and Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome, pacemaker/defibrillator implantation, cardiac resynchronisation therapy and left atrial appendage occlusion. My specialist interest is ablation of complex arrhythmias especially atrial fibrillation and life-threatening ventricular tachycardia. I was appointed as Professor of Cardiology with Warwick Medical School and lead the Heart Rhythm Research Group. We have brought in over two million pounds of research funding to date. I have two Associate Professors in Cardiology and we currently supervise 5 PhD students. The research team are focused on improving the understanding and management of dangerous heart rhythm disorders (Ventricular Tachycardia) as well as Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). The VT research team collaborate with other academic centres in London (Bart’s Translational Arrhythmia Research Group), Paris (Henri Mondor Hopital INSERM U955), Barcelona and the US. Recently, the VT research team have shown the benefits of performing VT ablation using a high density HDGRID catheter and have shown the benefits of performing ablation with a novel Diamond-Tip ablation catheter. I am a faculty member of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) and a member of the British Heart Rhythm Society (BHRS) VT Research Committee. In this capacity I am a regular speaker at national and international conferences. In addition, I proctor (train/support) international centres (Greece, Middle East, China) in performing complex ablation procedures.

He was appointed as Professor of Cardiology at UHCW, affiliated with Warwick Medical School, and currently supervises four PhD students. The VT research team collaborate with other academic centres in London (Bart’s Translational Arrhythmia Research Group), Paris (Henri Mondor Hospital INSERM U955) and US (University of Washington, Seattle). Recently, the VT research team have shown the benefits of performing VT ablation using a high-density HDGRID catheter and have shown the benefits of performing ablation with a novel Diamond-Tip ablation catheter. Professor Dhanjal is an expert international speaker in the field of arrhythmias & VT and proctors/helps perform cases at other UK, European and International heart rhythm centres.
