Mr Jeyaretna is the Clinical Lead of the Oxford University Hospitals skull base surgery programme and Director of the Skull Base Surgery fellowship programme. He is the former training programme director of the Oxford Neurosurgery Programme. His clinical expertise is in complex open and endoscopic, 360 degree surgery of the skull base. He is an elected council member of the British Skull Base Society and an appointed member of the Speciality Advisory Committee for Neurosurgery, which governs neurosurgical training nationally in the UK. He is the course director for the Oxford Skull Base Course and the National Neurosurgery ST6 Bootcamp in the UK. He is the elected representative of the Society of British Neurosurgeons (SBNS) to the European and World Associations of Neurosurgery. He is an ex-officio member of the SBNS council. He is a former member of the WFNS Neuroanatomy Committee and is the director at large for skull base surgery of the International Academy of Neurosurgical Academy (IANA). Mr Jeyaretna is invited faculty on national and international courses including for the WFNS and EANS and has lectured throughout the world on complex skull base surgery. He has published extensively on skull base surgery and brain tumour biology. He completed his doctoral research at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, and continues his research on meningioma biology and the use of artificial intelligence for skull base surgery, at Oxford University.

Mr Jeyaretna's focus is on surgery of complex brain tumours particularly focusing on meningiomas, vestibular schwannomas and chordomas / chondrosarcomas. He is also the clinical lead of the skull base surgery service at Oxford and has extensive expertise in the clinical and radiotherapy management of these tumours and thus is able to provide a comprehensive service to patients. He also is the lead surgeon for microvascular decompressions at Oxford which are employed in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasms and glossopharyngeal neuralgia.
