Dr Freshwater studied medicine at University College London, and completed his specialist training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology within the West Midlands region. He gained a doctoral degree for his research in viral hepatitis in liver transplant patients. His areas of specialist interests are in all aspects of liver disease including alcohol disorders, viral hepatitis, liver failure and transplantation, as well as stomach and bowel disorders, therapeutic endoscopy and ERCP. Dr Freshwater undertakes private consultations at BMI The Priory Hospital in Birmingham and Spire Little Aston Hospital in Sutton Coldfield by appointment
