GMC reg: 6068226Mr Bhaskar specialises in Hip and Knee replacement surgery including primary (first time) and revision (redo) arthroplasty surgery. He also performs arthroscopic surgery of the knee. His NHS practice as a substantive consultant is at Glan Clwyd Hospital, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, in North Wales. With over 22 years of experience after achieving his first qualification in Orthopaedics, he has carried out a large number of simple and complex replacements of the hip and knee. His experience in performing complex hip and knee cases helps deliver a high-quality primary joint replacement. After becoming a doctor (MBBS) in 1998 and completing orthopaedic training (MS Ortho) in India at one of the premier institutes for orthopaedics, Grant Medical College, in 2002 he came to the UK in 2004. He has passed the FRCS Trauma and Orthopaedics with the Royal College of Surgeons of England and completed MCh degree from Edge Hill University. Other academic qualifications include MRCS, Diploma SICOT, and PG Certificate in Health Science Practice. Following entry into the specialist register, he did the renowned Cavendish Fellowship at Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. This is a quaternary referral centre for infected arthroplasty, and extensive exposure to this complex operation led to his current NHS practice doing these complex cases. Research and Teaching Having an active academic interest, he has six peer-review publications. Two chapters in a book, two theses for MS and MCh, 12 published abstracts, 13 podium presentations at international level and 25 at the national level. He has presented 16 international and 16 national posters, winning the best poster award at the Welsh Orthopaedic Society Meeting 2023. In his leadership role, he is the Clinical Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics at Gan Clwyd Hospital and Abergele Hospital. Mr Bhaskar is the principal investigator for multiple trials running at his hospital. Having been the Clinical Governance lead for Orthopaedics means that he has a good understanding of clinical effectiveness and risk management procedures. He is an alumnus of the British Orthopaedic Association Future Leaders programme. He is a trainer for future orthopaedic surgeons as a clinical supervisor for T&O trainees from the Welsh Deanery. He is an ATLS instructor and faculty at many Orthopaedic courses including the Manchester cadaveric surgical skills course, Wrightington FRCS course and Stanmore-Salford FRCS Course.
