Mr David Woods

Biography Mr David Woods FRCS (Orth) Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon I qualified in Medicine from Sheffield University in 1987 , having obtained a 1st class honours degree in Human Metabolism and Clinical Biochemisty in 1986. My surgical training was in Sheffield, Oxford, and Melbourne Australia and I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Swindon in 1998. For the past 10yrs I have specialised in Shoulder and Elbow conditions almost exclusively. I have a particular interest in trauma to the collar bone, shoulder and elbow, and in the treatment of frozen shoulder, unstable shoulders, rotator cuff problems and shoulder arthritis. I keep outcome data on all my procedures and have published this data, along with submission to the National Joint Registry Teaching Currently, Royal College of Surgeons Tutor for the Great Western Hospital in Swindon,  and have an interest in teaching and the professional development of medical students and junior surgeons. Examiner for Bristol University, and for the Intercollegiate FRCS (Orth) exam Awarded Trainer of the Year for the Severn region in 2015 and British Orthopaedic Association National Trainer of the Year in 2016.
