Mr David Spokes

David Spokes is a consultant ophthalmologist at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and Cromer Hospital. He graduated in medicine from the University of Leeds where he also earned a degree in pharmacology. He trained in ophthalmology in Worcestershire and Yorkshire and undertook fellowship training in cornea and anterior segment in Perth, Australia, and at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. David is the Specialty Tutor in Norwich for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, overseeing training locally for junior eye doctors, and sits on the Regional Training Committee for the East of England region. He has co-authored a textbook on corneal surgery and published research in UK and international journals as well as being a reviewer for a number of ophthalmology journals. David is married with a young family and enjoys exploring the local countryside. He enjoys swimming and water polo as well as sailing, skiing and snowboarding.

David’s interests are in general ophthalmology, cataract surgery and conditions affecting the cornea and ocular surface including dry eye, blepharitis and pterygium. His particular interests are in cataract surgery after refractive corneal surgery and correction of refractive errors (long and short-sightedness and astigmatism) at the time of cataract surgery.
