GMC reg: 7590511Originally from Armenia, where he completed his initial medical degree as well as residency in Plastic Surgery, Mr Shahnazaryan has undertaken extensive Ophthalmology training in Ireland from 2008 to 2018. During this time he was also awarded a Doctor of Medicine, a higher research degree for his research work in corneal diseases with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He also completed a Refractive Surgery fellowship under the mentorship of legendary Irish Ophthalmologist Professor Michael O'Keefe. He followed up this up with further fellowships in Oculoplastics and Cornea at prestigious UK eye units in St James's (Jimmy's) University Hospital, Leeds and King's College Hospital, London. He has published numerous articles in high impact Ophthalmology journals and is an invited speaker both nationally and internationally on topics related to cataract, refractive and anterior segments surgery. Mr Shahnazaryan is a reviewer for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, ranked within 10 most impactful peer-reviewed journals. He worked as a Locum Corneal and Cataract surgery Consultant at King's College Hospital supporting the service during the pandemic and since 2020 is a Consultant Vision Correction Surgeon at Centre for Sight, a leading private refractive surgery clinic in the UK. He is the co-founder of the Green Working Group AECOS that is widely recognised as a leader in promoting sustainable ophthalmology practices locally and globally. Mr Shahnazaryan regularly contributes to voluntary missions in Armenia with a goal of eliminating preventable blindness in the country and to make quality eye care accessible to everyone in Armenia. He loves spending quality time with his wife and two daughters.
